CIC?and University?of?Toronto?delivered an exclusive Summer Camp program to CIC students?living in Residence?during the summer. During the?Global Citizenship Challenge?program,?CIC students:?
- had?lessons?with?University of Toronto professors?
- had?a practical component?to?apply?their knowledge?
- received their?program?certificate at?the?University’s?St. George campus?
Sixteen?CIC?students?have?successfully completed the?Global Citizenship Challenge?(GCC) co-hosted by?the?University of Toronto?and CIC.?
The program was an?intensive experience in team-building and problem solving for motivated students to take on?water scarcity?– an unsolved problem affecting our global community.
Through case studies, class discussions and research, the students?thoroughly?researched the issue from multiple perspectives and brainstormed with teammates to explore the complex social, economic and environmental reasons for?the?lack of safe water supply.
Each participant created their own solution,?then?explained and defended their approach in a “Town Hall” style debate in the final class.?
Another?benefit?for CIC students?participating in this special program was having access to Quercus, UofT’s learning hub! Quercus?is an online teaching and learning system?exclusive?to UofT?students,?faculty,?and staff,?but CIC students could?get a taste of it before?getting?into university!
Friday, July 30th?was?the last day of the program?and?CIC students?were excited to go?to St. George campus to receive?the?University?of Toronto?Global Citizenship Challenge Certificates!?
