Columbia’s Leadership classes are asking their peers to give back to the local community by participating in a?Home Room Food Drive Challenge?in support of Sodexo’s Stop Hunger campaign. Throughout the month of April, students have been asked to donate non-perishable food items to their home room classes, all of which will be distributed amongst the city’s various food banks. The home room class that donates the most items, measured in weight, will receive a special prize.

Ms. Milicevic’s ESLEO class?is looking to represent the Maple building and win this year. Her students have already collected more than 1000 pounds of non-perishable items, costing an estimated $600. All are excited to be contributing and even happier to be helping members of the community.

Last year, students and staff;
? collected?5150 pounds?of non-perishable food items for Hamilton’s Food Share,
? donated?150 breakfast meals?to the Breakfast Club program at two local schools, and
? prepared?950 meals?for Food For Kids.

Columbia hopes to exceed last year’s record and provide even greater support for those in need.

Stay tuned, the winning class will be announced next week.
